Video Blog
Like tea bags, you may have to be placed in hot water before you know how strong you are.
Video shot for this site will cover the trials of one individual attempting to improve his fitness level and compete in various events.  It is intended to be informational, entertaining and maybe even inspirational.  Additionally, other active seniors will show how they have adapted to their later years.  Dependent on budgets, the site will expand at a rapid rate and in as yet un-thought-of directions.

                           Is this guy in crisis?
A shrink might say so.  But I say it's me who is now 65 and it's my crisis to do with as I see fit.  Okay, so maybe time got away from me, maybe I didn't want to know I was aging, maybe I'm just one of those people who thinks he still has relevance.  And maybe it bothers the heck out of me to see so many older people seriously overweight, unable to walk right, unable to enjoy life to its fullest, living a high risk lifestyle or doing their best to head in the direction of the glue factory before their time. I don't want to just drift away into the sunset like many of my peers.  When I was a kid my folks would take the family  on vacation to Florida.  I can still see all the leather skinned old people sitting in chairs facing the sun on the deco hotel porches of South Beach.  They never seemed to move as our stationwagon cruised by.  It was creepy and not something we dwelled upon.  I intend to have fun, lots of fun, and I'll probably be pretty annoying going about it, too.  One still has to participate, if only on the light side, yet I do have to impress myself. So I am advancing that idea a step further and competing as an athlete for the first time.  I will live healthy, exercise and lose weight, and one biggie, finally dump my one really bad habit even if it kills me: 50 years of those nasty Marlboro cigarettes. But I don't intend doing all this just to end up lowering my quality of life. Au Contraire, moderation is the key.  Leave extremism to the Hollywood political experts and available-anywhere religious zealots.  Smell the roses. Test the waters.  Admire beauty. The whole purpose of life adjustment is to provide additional fulfillment.   I will not get that feeling spending my time vegging in front of a flat panel. The necessary requirements towards fulfillment have not changed, either. The Love and Respect of Those Around Me and the Need for Self Esteem still reign high.

I'm a little on the vintage side, so I see no problem buying a vintage bike to get started.  The first bike is a training and workout bike after all.  The weight and aerodynamics of the bicycle should take second place to the same concerns when analyzing one's body prior to competition.  Lose body weight first because like any sport, you can spend money out the wazzo on apparel and equipment.   Then it matters how much the bike weighs.  And I feel like being a little conservative until I know more about what I'm doing.   After all, I am just a rookie.

You control your attitude or it controls you.
Jim died.

His will provided $40,000
for an elaborate funeral.

As the last guests departed the affair, his wife Sharon turned to
Her oldest and dearest friend. 'Well, I'm sure Jim would be pleased,' she said.

'I'm sure you're right,' replied Brenda, who lowered her voice and
leaned
In close.. 'How much did this really cost?'

'All of it,' said Sharon . 'Forty thousand.'

'No!' Brenda exclaimed. 'I mean, it was very nice, but $40,000?'

Sharon answered, 'The funeral was $6,500. I donated $500 to church.

The whiskey, wine and snacks were another $500.
The rest went for the Memorial Stone...'

Brenda computed quickly.. '$32,500 for a Memorial Stone?'
How big is it?'
