Policy:
Musician performance clips are placed on this free site as promotional options and demo video for the artists, who also have the final approval of having their clip displayed or omitted. In addition, monies gained from the sale of performance website clips or performance DVD purchases by the artists go to supporting this site as a video 'Archiver of Musicians and their Music', for the present and future enjoyment of all.
No footage, audio or video, will be made available to those other than the artists themselves with the exception of the individual Blues Society which sponsors said particular artists. In that event the footage is supplied freely but charges apply for the edit/download time spent personalizing footage for the organization. (logos, wording titles, etc.)
Footage not contracted for is For Sale to the subject artists only.
We work much as a still photographer would: shooting the video, editing, and making it available for sale to the subject. In fairness to those who support this site, a non-customer is no longer able to place a link on their website directing users to the non-customer's video clips on JackDayWorld.Com. This means No embedding or direct linking from the subject musicians website is allowed to unpurchased clips. This will be considered copywrite infringement. Adding to your personal Favorites links is acceptable. (Blues Societies and Forums are exempt from the direct linking policy) Our purpose is to provide musicians with inexpensive tools to promote their music, not to act as a conduit to their fans. Existing links or embeds must be removed by April 15, 2008.
When providing the service of uploading edited clips to MySpace-type sites for the artists, only the highest resolutions acceptable by these sites are used. The MySpace-type sites then re-compress the uploaded clips to smaller files which lessens quality. Many of our past clips have hit the Internet, inexpertly taken from purchased DVD's of the artists, and have been degraded substantually. (Dark w/hollow sound) This may save money, but the poor quality reflects on the artists. How many times have you clicked the video button on someone's site and ended up with something really cheesy? Did 'garage band' come to mind?
Video is the best representation of talent. We attempt to shoot the highest quality images at all times, though poor lighting and crowded circumstances frequently work against this desire. Yet we strive to improve as we learn the work-arounds for the benefit of everyone.
Suggestions are not taken lightly.
